Silicon haiku

Ginko leaves Art must change anew -
for now we have machines which
compute our poems.

[Yes, I know that's not a proper haiku, sorry. I had a late night last night.][Image by *slm*]

It has always been my contention that American haiku does not have to conform to the 5/7/5 syllable or line rules of Japanese haiku. You can write an American haiku with as little as ten syllables:

    Listening to the rain
    after midnight.

Conversely, to translate your original haiku into Japanese would require considerably more syllables than 17.

Quite so, gmoke - hence my disclaimer at the end of the post! ;)
