Last time I looked at the statistics on Edinburgh and London, the increasing number of cyclists means the accident rate per cyclist mile is decreasing steadily. Presumably because drivers aren't only dealing with cyclists rarely. That said, having had an accident myself for which I could not find any independent witnesses and also for the joy of technology I am tempted to start recording my commute myself.
