Anita sounded petulant and childlike -- not that it wasn't in character, but it just didn't feel right. For me the strongest part was that Lori kept trying to explain the side effects and people said they understood, but they really didn't grok. Anita, in the end, gave into fear. Neil didn't really care. But you have to have it done to really grok it. In real life, plenty of people say "I understand" when they just want you to stop talking and get on with it.
