One of the major issues here is the commodification of children and the belief that children are essentially "property" of their parents, who have the right to do virtually anything they want to them.

That said, they didn't do anything legally wrong, per se. They went out and chose someone they knew who was deaf to be a sperm donor. It can't be against the law for two deaf people to reproduce, although knowing that they chose him because he basically guaranteed that they'd have a deaf child is enough to make me queasy.

Here's an entirely different moral issue though, that may occur: what if a future couple decides to do genetic screenings to ensure that they have a deaf child?

Hulking neanderthals huh? Well I (such that we) do have Aryan Ancestors, and traces of shared Genes from our Neanderthal cousins, in fact, most humans out of the middle east have. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/05/100506-science-neanderthals-humans-mated-interbred-dna-gene/
-sourcitysource-
Further we may well have developed blue eyes by similar means from our evidently greater-minded relatives.

I detest being unable to build constructions to a relative, adapted size easily out of purposefully textured structure. You southern-landers can go and have your micro car and I don't want one any larger then optimal, yet your sizes are a persistent pain for my body.

--As for this material, should I be able to make it into a mold for a house (and ohh, how this new language we use is awful--"make a mold for a fungi house, oh, no wait don't take it like that")or a dome-house, for a set of connected dome structures, or of domes and assemblable structures should be a saving grace for housing for my, and indeed all people, should we get our act together enough to dig the structure, lay out a mold, find the spores, and use our freaking corn-shells! -emphasis meant.

Read 'Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save The World' by Paul Stamets. It has a whole lot of other uses for mycelium!

I haven't read it yet but I bought it as a gift to my father and he absolutely swears by it!

Co-sign with Tobias & Co.

My concern is that...I guess it's the price expectation on the part of readers. This is beating a dead horse, but it seems that (at least on Amazon, which I expected to happen) they expect full 400 page novels for pennies or for free.

Short fiction is PERFECT for ereaders, a 400 page novel is just too long to me. I write historical fiction which entails much research among other things. I'll take my manuscripts through writer's workshops & critique groups before publishing them on Amazon. But it seems like length-wise people want ebooks to mirror paper books, except they want to complain that the price shouldn't mirror paper. I'm thinking of skipping ebooks altogether & selling the work as print only at the higher price point.

Are things really that bleak? Is there no hope of avoiding that "perpetual 19th century" future?
