I don’t see the privacy risks of replacing manned flights with UAVs for law enforcement in the United States. When one operator can fly multiple UAVs, then the privacy concerns are a lot more obvious.

I don’t mind the idea of them patrolling the border, that sounds like a good idea to me.
But smaller drones (cite to your recent posting about pico flyers) with cameras could be a privacy concern. Ditto with the IR cameras. Fortunately, the Supreme Court has ruled that using IR and other imaging technology to look into homes from outside is unconstitutional without a warrant.

But other cases have ruled that the air is public space, and that helicopters can fly over peoples’ houses and take a look-see without offending the Fathers. Police can also look in your window, as long as they aren’t trespassing to get their view. This leaves room for abuse by tiny flyers with cameras.
