I’ve seen a lot of angst online about statistical software that will be used in Philadelphia to predict which parolees are more likely to kill, and thus more deserving of attention from their parole officers. I can’t get too worked up about its potential violation of civil liberties when a sex offender is branded, tracked and registered in perpetuity. [schneier]

Violation of civil rights for a sex offender? Ha, ive never heard anything more incongruous. Sexual preadators can destory any feeling of security and safesty, not to mention the posibility of gender disassociation due to the fear of another assualt. Children are the highest in the possibility of tramatic effects. Sexual abuse be a a sex offender can lead to “chronic form of post traumatic stress disorder” (Lindberg and Distad 1985; Bryer et al. 1987; Craine et al. 1988). Therfore I implore you, if you have children, would you let a sexual offender walk in daylight again if he/she has abused your child? And what if you are a victim?
