Atop a volcano in Mexico’s Sierra Negra, the biggest telescope of its kind nears completion. A joint project between the US and Mexico, the Pentagon funding has caused a few raised eyebrows, but scientists are keen to point out that the device will have no military uses.

US company Space Adventures has announced its intent to build a spaceport and a fleet of suborbital spaceships ‘for commercial purposes’ (ie space tourism).
