The British secret service has been suffering from a paucity of computer-savvy employees, and so they’ve turned their recruitment radar in a different direction – they’re advertising inside MMO computer games. But budding Bonds with a Halo jones should take note – they’re looking for signals and decryption types to work at GCHQ, so you won’t be getting your Walther PPK any time soon.

Sounds very similar to the plot of Charles Stross’ new book Halting State which I just finished today. A theft in an MMO leads to a load of intelligence and government operatives using the world of online gaming to provide labour for their spy networks. It’s quite brilliant and looks like it’s pretty accurate too.
Paul, one day you’ll be forced to stand trial for that pun. 😉
Not if there’s no one to report me for it, Shaun … 😉
